BENCHES Exhibition: Free Opening Evening
Description:
What if the most ordinary spot in the world - a simple bench - was actually bursting with hidden stories?
Join us for the public opening evening and be among the first to experience the BENCHES exhibition in full. This special evening offers the chance to hear directly from Tim Hart, Samuel D Loveless, and AuDHD UK, with short talks followed by a Q&A and an artist-guided walk through the exhibition itself. It’s a rare opportunity to gain insight into the ideas, processes, and perspectives behind the work, all in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
With free drink available it’s the perfect way to experience BENCHES - thoughtful, engaging, and quietly surprising from the very start.
BENCHES invites you to discover exactly that. Launching this April for Autism Awareness Month, this joyful and thought-provoking exhibition transforms the everyday into something extraordinary, encouraging you to look closer, notice more, and find wonder in the details we often overlook.
At its heart is photographer Tim Hart, whose lifelong fascination with benches has grown into a remarkable, one-of-a-kind archive.
What most people walk past without a second glance, Tim captures with warmth, humour, and an incredible eye for detail - revealing that no two benches are ever quite the same. With over a thousand photographs filling the space, the exhibition becomes a playful visual journey through pattern, personality, and quiet beauty.
The experience continues with an immersive dome film, featuring an original score by award-winning neurodivergent composer Samuel D Loveless (bookable separately). Sensory and uplifting, it brings Tim’s way of seeing into a new dimension. Alongside this, workshops and hands-on activities invite visitors of all ages to explore creativity, observation, and self-expression in their own way.
More than an exhibition, BENCHES is a celebration of neurodivergent creativity, focus, and imagination—and you’re invited to be part of its opening night.
