Description:

BENCHES: A Free Neurodivergent Audio‑Visual Exhibition

What if the most ordinary spot in the world—a simple bench—was actually bursting with hidden stories?

BENCHES invites you to find out! Launching this April for Autism Awareness Month, this joyful and thought‑provoking exhibition invites you to see the everyday with fresh curiosity and wonder.

At its heart is photographer Tim H., whose lifelong fascination with benches has grown into a huge, one‑of‑a‑kind archive. What most people walk past without a second glance, Tim captures with affection, humour, and brilliant attention to detail. Suddenly, no two benches look alike—each one has its own personality, quirks, and quiet beauty.

With over a thousand photographs filling the space, the exhibition becomes a playful visual adventure—encouraging you to slow down, look closer, and enjoy the magic hiding in plain sight.

The experience continues in a captivating immersive‑dome film, featuring an original score by award‑winning neurodivergent composer Samuel D Loveless (bookable separately). Sensory, uplifting, and visually stunning, the film brings Tim’s way of seeing to life in a whole new dimension.

But BENCHES is more than an exhibition—it’s a celebration of neurodivergent creativity, imagination, and focus. Alongside the main show, you’ll find creative workshops and hands‑on activities for all ages (also bookable separately), inviting you to explore observation, pattern, and self‑expression in fun and unexpected ways.
