The Globe Hotel is a groundbreaking project: a community buy-out of a once-derelict, Grade II listed, much-loved high street building. The project will see the restoration and reinstatement of the Globe as a hotel, restaurant and pub, alongside a focused training offer, helping to drive wider economic and cultural regeneration in Great Torrington.

We supported the Globe team through two phases of development, from early inception through to governance, development planning, and business and financial planning, as well as investment readiness.

What we delivered

At the outset of the project in 2021, we supported:

- The development of the partnership, vision and organisational structure, including CBS rules and incorporation

- Drafting the original share offer document

- The operational and architectural redesign of the building

- Writing the business plan, alongside the development of a full set of financials and a 10-year projection

Following an all-too-common project stall during 2022–23, we returned to Great Torrington in 2024 to update the business plan and financials.

Impact

We were delighted to cheer from the sidelines when the Globe Hotel crossed the finish line with a successful share offer raise in 2025.

Now well on its way to becoming a community-owned hotel, bar and restaurant, this Grade II listed high street building has long played a central role in Great Torrington’s story and is set to become a key part of the town’s regeneration and future.

The project successfully secured £240,000 through the share offer, alongside additional capital grant funding. Congratulations to Rachel, Clarity CIC, and the whole team at The Globe.
