Outside is a multi-use community space, home to a café and events venue, onsite farm, creative businesses, and skate bowl, based in south Devon. It is a space for people to get outside, come together, find inspiration, and be creative.

We were asked to produce a carbon reduction strategy, including calculation of emissions usage, and net zero plan for the business. This supported Outside’s application to the Green Impact Fund for solar energy production and battery storage.

What we delivered

- Collation of emission’s source data and calculation of scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, with calculation plan for scope 3 data, to international and latest government standards

- Carbon reduction plan, with short- and medium-term recommendations, outlining path to net zero, in line with the 2015 Paris agreement and Science Based Targets Initiatives (SBTI).

Impact

- Our work completed in December 2024, which supported Outside’s application to the Green Impact Fund

- They were successfully awarded the investment from the Green Impact Fund, which funded the installation of solar PV and battery storage

- The business is now more energy resilient; it has reduced emissions produced via electricity to near zero, significantly reduced costs to purchase electricity, and has taken a big step forward in its journey to net zero by 2040.
