As part of Liskeard Unlocked 2026, join us at Liskeard Library for a day celebrating the skills, stories and traditions that have shaped our communities.
Discover how traditional crafts continue to thrive today through demonstrations, displays and creative practice. Meet contemporary makers who are keeping historic skills alive, learn about the people behind the crafts, and explore the connections between past and present.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy:
🧶 Gansey Knitting Demonstrations
Discover the art of knitting traditional fishermen's sweaters, known as ganseys, and learn about the heritage and craftsmanship behind these distinctive garments.
🎨 Contemporary Textile Art
See how traditional techniques continue to inspire modern textile artists and explore the creative possibilities of working with fabric and fibre.
🔨 Farrier Film Screening
Gain an insight into the specialist craft of farriery and the skills involved in this essential historic trade through a dedicated film presentation at the library.
⚒️ Black Smith Displays‍
Traditional Leather and Metal working displays in the courtyard of the library.
Part of this year's Heritage Open Days theme, Everyday Histories, this event celebrates the ordinary lives, skills and traditions that have helped shape Cornwall's shared past.

Can I get a refund on an event I have booked?
