More Info:
Market Hall is proud to present Homeostasis by Pierre-Luc Lecours and Ida Toninato, an immersive experience in which acoustic and electronic worlds collide.
This performance is co-presented by MUTEK, with the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
Pierre-Luc Lecours and Ida Toninato bring together the acoustic and electronic worlds through the encounter of baritone saxophone, modular synthesizer, and real-time video generation. Influenced by the concepts of balance, ecology, and the equilibrium found in the Fibonacci sequence, they explore the intersection of nature and humanity in their second full-length performance, Homeostasis.
This performance presents the artists as components of a larger system, completed by video projection and lighting. Images and sounds continuously recalibrate one another, renewing their points of connection. This ongoing process of creating and disrupting balance allows both performers and audience to expand their perception of the on-stage systems.
Harnessing the full spectrum of their sonic encounter and generating a continuous flow of intensity in dialogue with the visual content, Toninato and Lecours become a powerful entity—at times merging, at times opposing their sounds—as they engage in a search for equilibrium within themselves, between each other, and with their environment.
