Join resident printer and researcher Matt Holmes for Wood Type Wednesday, an informal, hands-on letterpress printing session at Devonport Guildhall. These relaxed studio sessions offer the opportunity to explore traditional letterpress techniques, experiment with historic wood and metal type, and create your own unique prints in a welcoming print studio environment.
Whether you're completely new to letterpress or already have printing experience, Wood Type Wednesday is a space to learn, experiment, share ideas and connect with fellow typography and print enthusiasts.
Spend time setting type, operating presses, printing posters and discovering the satisfying craft of letterpress printing with guidance and support throughout.

Matt Holmes is the resident printer and researcher at Devonport Guildhall, specialising in traditional letterpress printing, typography and historic print processes. Passionate about preserving and sharing printmaking skills, Matt creates engaging opportunities for people to explore the craft and creativity of letterpress.
