Develop your printmaking practice in a relaxed, supportive studio environment with artist printmaker Barton Hargreaves.
Designed for adults aged 18+, these sessions are ideal for those who have completed, or are currently attending, a beginner's etching course, as well as printmakers with a good working knowledge of traditional etching who would like to continue building confidence and refining their skills.
Rather than following a fixed curriculum, participants will work on their own projects with guidance from an experienced tutor, benefiting from a combination of one-to-one support, technical advice and group demonstrations.

What to Expect
The Friday Morning Intaglio Print Sessions provide dedicated studio time to develop your own printmaking practice while receiving expert guidance and professional feedback.
You'll have access to support with:
- Drypoint, Collagraph and Etching
- Hard Ground and Soft Ground Etching
- Aquatint and tonal techniques
- Plate preparation and etching processes
- Inking and wiping techniques
- Printing press operation
- Paper selection and printing
- Developing personal projects
- Technical advice and troubleshooting
Basic consumable materials, including ink, scrim, cartridge paper and tissue, are provided.
Participants are required to supply their own copper plates and specialist printmaking papers. Materials can be ordered in advance if required.

About the Facilitator
Barton Hargreaves is an artist printmaker with over 20 years of teaching experience across traditional and digital printmaking.
His experience includes:
- MA, Royal College of Art
- 10 years as Print Tutor at the Royal Academy Schools
- Current Lecturer at Arts University Plymouth
