More Info:
August drawing club is an opportunity to form connections with local artists, bonding over a shared love of drawing, however big or small a place it has in your life. The ethos is to create a supportive environment for all artists who are interested in learning how to look and draw from life, exploring new techniques and subject matter.
What to Expect:
Saturday 1 August: Drawing a Head part 1
In this session, we will look at the fundamentals of drawing a head, through a topographic approach. We will look at the structure of the bones and tissues in the head, and consider how markmaking can be used to convey hardness and softness, convex and concave, examining the head more like a landscape than a face. We will create explorative, experimental drawings, with a focus on learning and looking rather than outcome.
What you’ll take home:
Numerous explorative drawings in which you will have explored and grown as an artist, able to transfer your new skills into whatever you choose to draw next.
Facilitator:
Structured sessions led by artist Ruby Bradshaw.
Ruby is a long-term student of drawing, having studied at Arts University Plymouth and the Royal Drawing School. She is passionate about good quality, inclusive arts education, and enjoys teaching as part of her freelance practice. She is a studio holder at Devonport Guildhall.
