Develop your etching skills, build confidence, and refine your creative practice in this supportive 6‑week block of Studio Print Sessions led by experienced printmaker and tutor Barton Hargreaves.

Designed for those who have completed (or are currently taking) a beginner’s etching course—or for printmakers with a solid working understanding of the process—these sessions offer dedicated studio time with both individual and group support. With a maximum of 6 participants, you’ll receive focused guidance while continuing to explore and develop your personal projects.

Basic materials are included, and additional specialist materials can be ordered on request.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your technical ability, troubleshoot your etching process, or simply maintain regular studio practice, this termly etching block will help you take your work to the next level.

Who it’s for

Perfect for: Printmakers who have completed beginner-level etching or have a good working knowledge of the process.

These sessions are ideal for those who want structured studio time, expert support, and space to progress their etching projects at their own pace.

A block of 6 sessions, each running 9:30am – 12:30pm, on Fridays.

This 6‑session block is £180 (+ booking fee)

What to expect

These sessions provide:


Basic materials including ink, scrim, cartridge paper, and tissue.


Their own plates and specialist printmaking paper (available to order prior to sessions).

Facilitator

Barton Hargreaves is an artist printmaker with two decades of teaching experience across traditional and digital printmaking practices.

He holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and spent 10 years as a Print Tutor at the Royal Academy Schools. Barton is currently a lecturer at Arts University Plymouth, where he continues to explore and teach a wide range of print processes.
