Helping a Young Entrepreneur Find The Right Path
Introduction
EA first connected with the YEP! project at Penryn Job Centre, where our coordinator Lou explored her aspirations and discussed support options. EA expressed a passion for the outdoors and a desire to build skills that could lead to future employment.
Our Role
We adopted a person-first approach, listening to EA’s goals and tailoring support to help her turn her interests into practical opportunities. This included funding resources and providing guidance to develop her entrepreneurial ambitions.
What We Delivered
- Specialist Training: EA enrolled in a dog walking and pet sitting course covering legal requirements, zoonotic diseases, health and safety, and client confidentiality.
- Home Learning Support: Enabled EA to complete the course at her own pace.
- Brand Development: Supported EA in creating her own business, Pawtastic, including setting up a social media presence.
- Funded PPE: Provided sign-written protective gear designed by EA herself, reinforcing her professional identity.
Impact
EA is now actively working toward launching her own pet care business, combining her love for the outdoors with new skills and confidence. This approach demonstrates how listening to individual aspirations and providing practical tools can empower young people to take control of their future.
Testimonial
“By listening to Emma's goals and aspirations, and offering practical support, the Yep! project has empowered her to develop work skills and prepare for future opportunities.”
