Explore printmaking through hands‑on lino cutting
Join us this half term for a creative lino printing short course designed especially for young adults (11+). This practical, guided workshop introduces the basics of lino cutting and printmaking, allowing participants to experiment with tools, textures, and design while creating their own printed artwork.
What will we do?
Introduction to Lino Printing
We’ll begin by exploring what lino printing is, with examples of finished prints to inspire ideas and creativity.
Finding Inspiration
Participants will look through library books and materials to gather visual inspiration for their own designs.
Tools, Techniques & Safety
There will be a clear demonstration of lino cutting tools, including how to use them safely and responsibly.
Practice & Experimentation
Before starting final designs, participants will practice on scrap lino pieces, experimenting with different cutting tools and the effects they create.
Design & Cutting
Once confident, participants will trace their chosen design onto lino and begin cutting their printing block.
Inking & Printing
The session finishes with a demonstration of how to ink and print designs, with opportunities to adjust and improve prints as they go.
